Seminole Club of Greater Miami: ’77 Club Honors
In 2004, the leadership of the Seminole Club of Greater Miami decided to pay tribute to the outstanding legacy of the Florida State University in Miami. They began a tradition of recognizing those who have paved the way for generations of success at FSU, with the creation of the ’77 Club Honors. The ’77 Club recognizes FSU Alumni from Miami who have demonstrated a special dedication to the University. In May 2005, the first honorees were inducted during the annual Bobby Bowden Golf Tournament & Banquet in Miami, Fl. Each of the honorees were given a plaque and a one of a kind garnet ‘77 Club guayabera shirt with the emblem of the Seminole Club of Greater Miami imprinted on the front. The name of the award pays homage to the founding of the Club in 1977. Javi Borges, who serves on the Club’s Board of Directors, is the Chair of the ’77 Club Honors. Javi served as President of the Club from 2004-2006 when the award was founded.
